Vietnam is a country with four thousand years of history and its rich cultural heritage has been passed down through many generations. The cultural value of the traditional Viet villages is very important. It is the cradle of Vietnamese cultural. The traditional village occupies a position of central importance in Vietnamese long history; it reflects the cultural, material, and spiritual life of community, and functions as a locus of social cohesion. Although there are many villages within Vietnam, each of which has their own specific characteristics, as a whole they form a picture that offers much insight into rural life in a largely agrarian country such as Vietnam, the traditional village helps to form a strong image of nationhood.
